Lo-Fi App is a music player built around calm and focus, and the design had to carry that feeling through every surface. I built the identity and UI from the ground up, but the real problem was variety without inconsistency: the app ships in multiple color themes, so the system had to express very different moods from one set of components and tokens.
I started with the identity , exploring palettes and moods that match the flow of lo-fi , then turned those into a tokenized theme system, so color, surface, and accent were values a component reads rather than styles hard-coded into it.
From there I built the component library from scratch , player, playlist, cards, controls , and wired motion in, so navigating the app felt as smooth and unhurried as the music it plays.
I studied lo-fi players and listening behavior to find the gaps, which set the direction for the visual language, the interaction model, and the components worth building.
The decision that shaped everything: themes are first-class, not an afterthought, so the system was designed to be re-skinned from day one.
I built the brand and the component library together, with every element styled through theme tokens rather than fixed values. Swapping a theme is a token change , surfaces, accents, and states all update in lockstep , which is why the app carries five distinct palettes from a single, consistent set of components.
I tuned each interaction by hand , transitions, easing, and player feedback , so motion stayed fluid and calm rather than flashy.
Then tested and polished across every theme and breakpoint, making sure contrast and legibility held up in each palette, light and dark alike.
Each screen is the same app in a different skin. Five themes, one component system , the tokens carry the mood while the components stay exactly the same underneath.
Lo-Fi App shipped as a calm, cohesive player where the interface moves at the pace of the music. Because the UI is built from a tokenized theme system and a component library made from scratch, the same app wears five palettes without a single inconsistency , and a new theme is a token set away, not a redesign.
